All the stuff you never knew you needed to know about life in rural France.....and all the stuff the books and magazines won't tell you.

From the bathtub...

I am indebted to the wonderful Sapristi Balthazar blog for the above video.
Yes, it's in French...but with subtitles in English, so there's no excuse for not understanding the message.
You always knew the banks were the problem, but I'm willing to bet you didn't know to what extent.

  1. Hello:
Well, this has all been most informative. We have thought for some time that we were all going down the plug hole.......this confirms it!! And, will the baby be thrown out with the bathwater too?!!!

  2. Jane and Lance Hattatt, if the baby had had any sense it would have abandoned bath long ago...

  8. I was still laughing minutes after this concluded...Obama should see this, not that it would do much good...the name of the game here is political gridlock.

  9. One to save up until we get back to a decent broadband speed and I can watch it. Grinds teeth in frustration.....

  10. That's amazing. Did we do the same thing in the US? I guess so or we wouldn't be in the same situation.
I always wonder who we owe the debt to.
If we owe it to each other, let's just cancel it out and start over!

  13. Niall and Antoinette, perhaps we should all be voting directly for which bankers we would prefer to have with their hands in our pockets and sideline the politicians completely.

  16. Fly, I've just managed to watch this (and my French was up to a fair bit of it. Yeah!) and it was fantastic. I understood more about the reasons for the present crisis in 10 minutes than I have in years. Thanks for posting it.

  17. Perpetua, I thought it was clear and helpful...in both languages.
Do you know the blog from which I culled it...that would help your French no end!

  18. Yes, thanks to your link I've looked at it from time to time, but not consistently enough to do much good. Must try harder....

  19. Perpetua, His latest, on having to pay 3.50 to see the exhibit in the Resistance Museum and only 2 for a bottle of wine on the Pied de Biche was a little gem.
The Pied de Biche is one of these men's clubs....been going forever in a little house on the ramparts of the town where they get together for cards, wine and gossip. Put women in the shade as far as the latter's concerned.
